A rubber bumper around the top cover absorbs the force of bumps to the side of the system. The strong corners reduce damage when dropped at an angle and the bezel is thick enough to protect the LED panel. Its hinges and brackets have been strengthened to last 50,000 cycles and to withstand more force to the cover. Recessed ports and a reduced gap between keys help prevent accidental damage.
Military-Specification Tested
Military-specification testing validates the ruggedness, durability, and quality of the ThinkPad by testing against eight parameters including high pressure, humidity, vibration, high temperature, temperature shock, low pressure (15,000′), low temperature, and dust.
ThinkVantage Active Protection System (APS)
An accelerometer detects the movement and stops the hard drive when a fall or similar event is detected. Rubber mounts are used for the hard disk drive (rather than rails) and the HDD connector is not rigidly attached to the board, so the connector absorbs the shock and impact, and protects against system damage.
Keyboard Enhanced for Windows 10
Full-sized and spill-resistant, the ThinkPad ergonomic keyboard is optimized for Windows 8 with convenient multimedia buttons, LED status indicators, Function-lock capability, and immediate access to view apps. In addition, a large, smooth TrackPad with 5-point click integration indicated by subtle bumps and stripes can be configured in multiple ways through settings.
